Capillary Flow Technology Modulator Device
Capillary Flow Technology
Agilent Capillary Flow Technology (CFT) devices are low thermal mass, oven mountable, and inert. They use flexible metal ferrules that allow GC and GC/MS operators to make reliable, leak-free capillary connections. As part of the Inert Flow Path, they can be used confidently and reliably for the most demanding applications.
Capillary Flow Technology devices increase the flexibility and uptime of Agilent GC systems. For example, many of the CFT devices allow the implementation of backflush, which can reduce sample preparation and downtime by preventing heavy contaminants from reaching the analytical column and detector.

Features
- Backflush significantly reduces injection-to-injection times and provides better data quality
- Purged Ultimate Unions offer deactivated leak-free connections to reduce downtime and increase lab productivity
- Flow Splitters allow data to be collected on up to three detectors in one injection with easy deactivated connections
- Deans Switch facilitates heart-cutting by switching peaks to a second column of different stationary phase for additional selectivity that provides better resolution of trace compounds in complex matrices
- GC x GC Flow Modulation provides comprehensive multidimensional chromatography without the need for cryogenic cooling, providing a visualization of sample components for class determination
Technology
Improve Your Gas Chromatography with Backflush
Capillary Flow Technology enables flexible implementation of backflush on Agilent GCs for higher throughput, less maintenance, fewer recalibrations, longer column life, better results, and lower costs. Learn MoreMultidimensional Gas Chromatography
Multidimensional chromatography introduces a second column with a different stationary phase into the flow path. Complex samples often have coeluting compounds so adding the selectivity of an additional column through heart cutting or GC x GC increases the GC resolving power and provides a solution to the problem of overlapping peaks.
